Frequently asked questions
Self-Storage units are subject to VAT. Our team will always make you aware of the price including the VAT. You will receive an access card/code with 24-hour access free of charge. Extras that you will need to purchase include insurance to cover your items whilst in storage. If you wish to take our cover it costs £4.50 per £1000 worth of goods. This will be charged on a 4 weekly basis. Alternatively you can provide your own insurance. You will also need a padlock to secure your unit, we sell these in store if you don’t already have one. If you wish to reserve a unit we require a one off payment of £10.00 which will then be deducted from your first month’s rent upon sign up
After your initial sign up period we will invoice you on a four weekly/monthly basis and you will receive your invoice 10 days prior to your unit being due for payment. We always take payment in advance. When it comes to vacating your unit, providing you have given us 14 day’s notice you will receive a refund for any unused storage charges.
It is strongly advised your goods must be insured whilst in storage. Anchor Self Storage can provide you with StoreProtect. We will ask you for the value of the goods that will be in your unit during your stay. Minimum charge for StoreProtect is £4.50 for £1000 worth of goods. This will be charged on a four weekly basis. We do accept customers' own insurance providing we have been given evidence that your insurance will cover your goods in a self-storage unit at our facility.
Yes, if we have the unit size you require available you may place a reservation on a particular unit to secure it for a full 28 days. A payment of £10.00 will be required to secure the unit, this will then be deducted from your first month’s rent upon sign up. Reservations can be placed over the phone using a credit/debit card or you can visit us in store. You can sign up to your reserved unit at any time during the 28 days. You will need to come to reception so that a member of staff can verify who you are. If you are not the account holder you must be a named person on the contract who has permission to access the unit. A member of staff will then be able to remove the padlock and you can then place a new one onto your unit.
Unfortunately, we do not provide a van hire or removal service. We can however recommend companies within the area. We have become familiar with a few companies that have been used many times by our customers and are very professional. We have a car parking area outside our storage facility and you can make use of our large loading bay where you will find trolleys and pallet trucks.
No, we do also have units on the first floor. We will make you aware if we are offering you an upstairs unit. We have a lift and trolleys available to help transfer your goods to your unit. If you have any disabilities that restrict you from going upstairs then please make us aware of this and we will do our best to find you a suitable unit.
All our storage units are individually alarmed. You will also have your own padlock on the unit meaning only you will be able to gain access to the unit. We have 24/7 monitored and recorded CCTV inside the storage facility and around the entire site. Fire alarm systems are also in place. Our Swindon branch also has the added benefit of having on-site security.
